Amid rising global economic uncertainty driven by shifting international relations and political changes, the Asia-Pacific region is assuming ever greater strategic importance. Kansai, which maintains close ties with the Asia-Pacific region not only in business but also in tourism, human resources, and many other areas, plays a pivotal role in this context. Since its establishment in December 2011, the Asia Pacific Institute of Research (APIR) has continuously advanced research activities and policy recommendations with the strong support of its member companies.
In order to contribute to business strategy formulation and policymaking, APIR adopts a comprehensive perspective that situates Japan and the Kansai region within the broader Asia-Pacific context, emphasizing the sustainable development of both. Our distinctive strength lies in providing insights into the Asia-Pacific region from a Kansai-based perspective—one that cannot be obtained from Tokyo.
Looking ahead, we aim to further enhance our functions as a think tank by exploring timely research themes and developing original research methodologies. At the same time, we will strengthen collaboration with a wide range of research institutions and related organizations in Japan and abroad, particularly those in the Asia-Pacific region. Through these efforts, we seek to contribute to the growth and revitalization of the Kansai economy while also fostering the next generation of research professionals. As a think tank rooted in the region, we remain committed to fulfilling our mission and taking the next step toward further development.
We will continue to actively disseminate valuable information and research findings that contribute to solving the challenges faced by our member companies and the Kansai community. By pursuing diverse possibilities, we aspire to be the institute that people turn to when they think, “For matters related to Kansai and the Asia-Pacific region, ask APIR.”
